I'm not sure what drew me to this bright chartreuse (mix of bright yellow and green) shirt this weekend. Maybe it was because I received some sad news from home and I needed to cheer up. Whatever it was though, I was really drawn to it. So much so in fact that I wore it on Saturday night and all day today at work. I've said it before and I'll say it again. I don't really have the capacity for creativity on Monday mornings, so I usually end up recycling something I wore the weekend before. Bright neon colors are big for Spring, and although it is not quite Spring yet, the sunshine makes me want to rush it. On Saturday night a bunch of friends and I got together to celebrate my boyfriend's birthday. We played pool, drank big tall beers out of frothy mugs, had cake, and laughed until it hurt. It was a perfect night and just what I needed. We were just going to a bar to hang out, but I felt like dressing up a little bit, so although I could have easily paired this top with dark denim and boots, I decided against it and went for this comfy black and white striped skirt that I scored at Target a couple of weeks ago. It has an exposed hardware like zipper in the back which I love. It was a little cold out by 9pm when we left the house, so I put on black tights with it, and paired it with these bright pink suede  pumps (perhaps I was still high from my previous color blocking post). I love chartreuse and pink together. I am a child of the 80's and I can't quite fight the urge to pair one neon color with another...ala Cyndi Lauper. I really like the way silver accessories look with bright colors, so I ignored my (favored) gold jewelry for some silver stuff. I have had this necklace forever and never worn it before. I think it was the green and blue in it that really drew me to it, and initially I had these rings on opposite hands, but decided to stack one on top of the other for more of a statement piece. For work today I grabbed this shirt (that was still hanging off of the knob on my nightstand) and threw on some simple black slacks. I almost put on plain black pumps, but last minute grabbed these strappy, peep-toed Jessica Simpsons. They are tan, camel, and black and had yet to be broken in. Sometimes I think I use my day job as an excuse to break in very non-corporate America looking shoes. These were surprisingly comfortable, at least until about 4pm (which could possibly be a new, personal record for my absurdly large collection of non-sensible shoes).
