Surprise!!!! I was surprised today with a big bouquet of flowers out of the blue (thanks to the BF) and it got me thinking about random acts of kindness. How the smallest gestures have the power to turn someone's day around. I know that is not new news, and it's a bit cliche, but it's cliche for a reason. It is so true. Have you ever had a crappy day and then someone gives you a compliment, goes out of their way to do something thoughtful for you, or makes you belly laugh,  and suddenly it's like you hit the "reset" button and your day turns around? Well, I wasn't having a particularly bad day, but it was a really busy morning and an out of control afternoon. Right after my last morning meeting I got a call from a delivery guy telling me that he was in my elevator lobby with a flowers for me, and then this afternoon I was feeling overwhelmed when my BFF photog, Carrie and I met up to do this blog shoot. Spending 5 minutes with Carrie is like riding a sure fire, no fail,  high-speed train straight to a belly laugh. (I hope you all have a friend like that.) Anyway, I digress. Sometimes I forget that this is a style blog and that I probably should be talking about the clothes. Today I wasn't feeling overwhelmingly creative so I grabbed this really comfortable (and cheap, I think it cost about $10) skirt, paired it with a blouse that had the same colors in it, tan/nude shoes, and a tan blazer. I know...booooring, right? It's just not that easy to feel inspired when you feel kind of sick, you skipped a morning shower (before you judge me...I showered late last night), washed your face around your bangs, and threw your hair up into a dirty, messy knot. I did however throw on a bunch of "pearls" and some red lipstick (yup...I sure did match my purse to my lipstick) to spice things up a bit. So, things I realized today... lipstick makes me feel better, I should wash my hair even when I'm tired, I need to trim my bangs in the worst way, this high waisted skirt makes me look like I was born without a torso, and it's my turn to do something unexpected and really nice for someone. Pay it forward, ya know?

  2. Thank you SO much for the comment!! No-shower days are THE BEST. They do wonders for your hair, don't they? After you wash it, of course. It always looks much better! BTW...love your blog. I totally need to figure out how to do the different sections at the top like you have...where you click and go to a different category! Love it!
