Crimson and Clover

I've had the classic hit, Crimson and Clover (by Tommy James & The Shondells) in my head since I put these obnoxiously loud platforms on this morning. I don't really have any "clover" on in the outfit (unless you count the green gems in my rings) but I went overboard with the crimson today. Deep red nails, shoes, lips, and the color makes an appearance throughout the shirt. Truth be told I just bought these shoes last Friday. I have worn them 3 times since then (with jeans and a flowy white top on Saturday, with a creme colored lace top and creme blazer on Sunday, and today with a peasant top and faux fur vest). When you see shoes like this, a bright color with a bold shape and high maintenance material (soft suede in this case) it is easy to think..."What in the world would I wear these things with", or, "Yeah, I like them, but how often would I really wear them"? I'm here to tell you that if you find a pair of shoes that speak to you like these bad boys spoke to me, you will find a way, make a way, and perhaps even buy a lipstick shade to compliment them (I mean, not that I would ever do anything like that...SO shallow right? Yeah, I totally pulled the shoes out of the bag and matched them to the lipstick I was looking at. Do NOT judge me). I mean, if you buy a bold lipstick that compliments a statement piece that you are wearing, you can feel like you are matching (for those of you concerned with matching that is) even if you are not wearing another thing that "goes" with it.
On a side note, I definitely bought my BFF Carrie Hawkins Foust, a pair of deep purple suede, sky-high platform shoes at Aldo the same day I bought these little numbers. Her husband hates them but she loves them. Although, now I am thinking that I failed miserably by not buying her a complimentary lip color. Birthday Present Fail. Looks like I'm headed to MAC with a quickness. Although catching Carrie wearing purple lipstick is about as likely as catching me in a pair of flats. Stranger things have happened, but I wouldn't hold your breathe. Today is Carrie's actual birthday, so I'd like to take a second to give a BIG BIRTHDAY shout-out to you, Carrie Hawkins Foust. You are the most amazing, selfless, big-hearted, hilarious, true-blue friend  (and blog photographer) a girl could ever ask for and I love you to the moon and back. Happy Birthday, my dear friend.
On yet another side note, Joan Jett and the Blackhearts, do an awesome cover of the 60's version of "Crimson and Clover". It's pretty bad@$$...check it out.
